Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and community. That’s why I will continue working closely with our local police and Police & Crime Commissioner to tackle the issues that matter most to residents—whether it’s speeding on residential roads, anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods, or targeted crime prevention across Stamford.
Visible, community-focused policing is essential, and I will support efforts to secure more resources for our local teams, so they can be proactive, responsive, and better equipped to serve the people of Stamford. I also believe in the power of early intervention and education—working with schools, youth services and community groups to steer people away from crime and towards positive opportunities.
Alongside policing, I strongly support increased funding for our Fire and Rescue Service. These brave professionals do so much more than respond to emergencies—they are key players in prevention, education, and resilience planning. Whether it’s responding to road traffic incidents, protecting property, or helping vulnerable people in times of crisis, they need the right tools, training, and funding to do their job safely and effectively.
With extreme weather events becoming more frequent, I’m also committed to pushing for greater investment in flood defences and resilience infrastructure. From improved drainage and maintenance of watercourses to better planning for future developments, we must take a proactive approach to protecting homes, businesses, and public services from the risks of flooding.
Together, these priorities form part of a wider vision: a Stamford that is safe, resilient, and well-supported—today and into the future.
