This morning, I had the honour of beginning Stamford’s VE Day commemorations alongside our wonderful town crier on the steps of the Town Hall—a fitting start to a day of reflection and community spirit.
As we remember the sacrifices of the Second World War generation, it was incredibly moving to see so many people gather throughout the day. This evening, I was proud to attend the lighting of the beacon on the Recreation Ground, joined by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Air Vice-Marshal Gary Waterfall CBE, and hundreds of residents from across Stamford.
Thank you to everyone who came to pay their respects and celebrate peace, unity, and the enduring spirit of our town.
