A multi-million pound regeneration project in Stamford has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.
The St Martin’s Park development, led by South Kesteven District Council in partnership with Burghley Estates, has been shortlisted for the Brownfield Awards 2022 in the Best Public Sector/Not For Profit category.
The Leader of SKDC, Cllr Kelham Cooke, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a Brownfield Award.
“This is a high-quality, well-designed and sustainable development that will preserve and enhance this part of Stamford and bring significant benefits to the town and wider area, providing both employment opportunities and new homes.”
The awards are organised by Environment Analyst, who help customers examine market opportunities in the environmental sector.
The 14.7-hectare St Martin’s Park will include a designated commercial area; mixed-use area; retirement village; range of residential properties, including 30% affordable homes; and areas of green and open space.
Part of it will be built on the former Cummins Technologies site in Barnack Road, Stamford, where demolition work is being carried out by GF Tomlinson Group. The work started in April and is on track to be completed in early 2023. .
The Brownfield Awards recognise achievements by individuals and organisations through the use of innovative techniques, awareness of sustainability, engagement of stakeholders and demonstration of best practice.
